TGIF! :)

Lauren took this photo of Sam today - he is playing with some of his favorite toys on his mat on the sun porch.

Sam in the morning

This photo was taken on May 20th but I think I only posted it on the blog header and not in an actual post - so seeing as I want to update the blog banner, I wanted to post this one here to keep it around so to speak.  This was my current favorite photo of him, until I got the one from Lauren today of Sam on his play mat. I took this photo of Sam first thing in the morning - I just love hoe excited he is for his day :)

Sleepover!

The past few days were really, really warm for this time of year, in the 80s I believe.  This was Sam's first time with hot-ish weather and so we needed to get a little creative to keep him as comfortable as possible.

So Tuesday night we installed the A/C  (we only have one at this point) in our bedroom and then made a make-shift crib for Sam in our bedroom.  Here is a (blurry) shot of the make-shift crib:

And Sam really pleased to not be in his bedroom - with some of his favorite toys ;)

Another Bath

Geoff gave Sam a bath and who can resist a good "baby in a towel" photo opp? ;)

More Food Fun

We gave Sam some oatmeal over the weekend and he enjoyed it much more than the rice cereal - here are a few photos from his first run in with oatmeal :)  We also gave him mashed up avocado - I think next on the list will be squash.  Lauren made him some butternut squash in the Fall before he was born - it is a perfect time to defrost a few.

Picnic in the (Habitat) Park

Sunday afternoon Jenn, Lauren and I took advantage of the incredibly lovely weather and took Sam to Habitat in Belmont which is a Mass Audubon property.  It is one of my favorite places and it is so closeby we are really lucky.  We had lunch there and hung out in the Upper Meadow all afternoon.

Elephant Shirt

Geoff's cousin Helen gave Sam a really adorable elephant onesie so we took the opportunity over the weekend to take a photo for Helen to show how perfect it is for him.  This is Sam just relaxing in the arm chair in his nursery :)

Rice Cereal

So Sam join the ranks of (semi) solid food eater over the weekend - here are a few photos from his first experience with rice cereal:

Yummm

My Mom bought Sam a box of cookie/biscuit sticks for him to chew on earlier in the week when she was watching him, so we decided to see what he would do with one on Wednesday afternoon.  He made a complete slobbery mess of it, but really enjoyed himself :)

Toy from Alex & Wes

So when Alex and Wes visited a few weekends ago they brought Sam a most adorable gift.  It was one of Wes's favorite toys and is quickly becoming one of Sam's favorites:

5 Months!

Geoff's Mum reminded me this morning that today was Sam's 5th month B-day ---- Horraaay! :)

So how did he spend this momentous day? Basically sleeping ;)  I think he was tuckered out from such an active weekend, so when my Mom was watching him today he slept for most of it and is sleeping right now.

It was great timing - I ordered a bunch of photos of him last week and they all arrived in the mail today.  I had so much fun flipping through my favorite shots of him - I was almost in tears.  It is really so amazing to see how much he has grown, I know he is still a little baby but it is remarkable to think about how far he has come.  Technically a year ago he was 0.30 cm in width (I just checked my 5/6/09 sonogram when we confirmed we were pregnant ;).

Tonight we are going to visit Geoff's Mum in the hospital - she had surgery this afternoon so I am hoping Sam will brighten up her evening a bit and be a healthy distraction from her day.

Another first

Today we had another first - it was the first time that Sam reached up and took my glasses off my face - and then proceeded to jam them in his mouth ;)

Boil Water Alert

Stating on Saturday afternoon there was a boil water alert in the Boston metro area.  It was lifted yesterday morning, but for a few days we had to boil all the water that would come in contact with our mouths or hands.  Doing dishes and cleaning bottles in large bowls made it feel a bit like camping at home.  We also had two large pots of water continuously boiling and then used Lauren's lobster pot to store all the "clean" water.  After all this is said and done we decided to take a short cut and go right to the source - poor chap has no idea he is about to be made into soup ;)

Why Not?

My Mom and Dad took Sam (and Pat the dog ;) to Breakheart today for their walk.  My Mom took this photo of Sam and sent it to me.  She said he slept like this for quite a while and a girl running by even stopped to as about his arm and if he was really napping in that position :)

Also - big props to my Mom for conquering the cell phone image texting ;)

Hot Fun in the Summertime

So even though it is not technically summer we had a few hots days here.  It is fun to see Sam just in a onsie or a diaper - naked babies (with a diaper ;) are the best :)  I had just ordered a bunch of sunblock and the like to try out for him and in the sampler package was this very cute pair of sunglasses.  Here are photos of Sam and Lauren about to go for a walk to the park on Sunday:
