The Big Unpack

So we closed on the house on 8/28 (day after my last post). We both took the day off and had a lazy morning, went to see a used car in Acton ('92 Toyota Camry, very low mileage), and then the walk-through around 1:30pm. From there we went to the Cambridge registry and signed all the paperwork. The sellers were there with their agent and lawyer, and we were there with Ann and then the bank's attorney. All went well (quicker than people described - there was really not that much paperwork, a significant amount that is for sure, but reasonable for this kind of transaction).

After the signing we swung by the house (just bcs we could ;) and then went into Boston for Lissa and Chris's bachelor(ette) party. We had dinner at Figs on Charles St. first and then met them all at the Landing which is close to the Aquarium. It was drizzling (hence the canceled Pirate ship activity) so we all headed to Kings in the Back Bay. We stayed out till 10pm and then headed homebcs we knew we had a long day ahead of us and I was tired.

On Saturday, 8/29 we met Eric and Seli at the house so they could help with tidying and cleaning. It was pouring out in the morning and pretty much all day, until very late afternoon. My parents came over (with a dozen Kane's donuts :) to see the place. We then went back to Belmont to pack more and get ready for the movers. I was going a bit crazy at this point with the labeling tape (that said which room to put the item in) which later bit me in the a$$ bcs it has left colored marks on everything bu the boxes. The movers arrived around 3pm and packed Belmont until 5pm. We then all headed to the house and they unpacked here until 8pm. I did a quick run to get 2 6-packs of beer (one for Geoff and one for the movers) and their tip. After that we went to Jon's house for take-out Chinese and watch the Red Sox game.

On Sunday we did more unpacking. I spent easily 8 hours unpacking straight. Geoff was out for some of it bcs he had to help Kurt move into his place in Malden.

monday night we had our second class of HypnoBirthing; Tuesday, Wed., and Thursday we unpacked. Friday night we swung by Belmont to get some stuff (grabbedBlue Ribbon BBQ take-out for dinner on the way) and then watched a movie (Pride and Prejudice) in our house :) It was really very nice just to be able to relax.

Yesterday (Saturday) we then went to Trader Joes and spent $300 stocking up on stuff. Gosh have I missed that store!! They have expanded their organic produce section and that was just about the missing piece for me :) After that (starting at lunch) we did more unpacking and Kurt came over to help move the couches and unpack books. Geoff then drove him home and I did some more stuff. We had dinner independently, and then watched a movie (40 Yea Old Virgin) but did not finish it. I think we will finish it tonight.

Geoff is making pizza --- actually just after I wrote that (it is now Monday morning) I asked Geoff if we had any chesse for the pizza, and the answer was no - so I ended up cooking dinner as he ran over to Belmont to feed Annie for the night. I made American Chop suey - which I think my Mom will get a kick out of. I have never made it before and it was the first official meal cooked in our house. :)

Today (Labor Day) we are in Belmont for the internet and then to pack up our stuff. Geoff is doing a run now to Arlington and will bring back lunch. I am going to work on a list of things not to forget :)
